I found my first one my freshman year of college! I saved it for awhile in my science book. :) Actually my best friend found it. That's what best friends are for.
I had a white streak at 17 (I'm 54 now)- take a look at beauties like Maxine Hong Kingston. Grey/white hair can be very, very beautiful, especially as you age. (I'm not saying that *mine* is....)
First gray at 39? You're lucky! My mom cackled and pulled out my first when I was still in high school. I got the granny gray hair gene from her. 39 is gloriously old for finding one's first gray. Congratualtions on looking so young for all these years.

You're not old! I found my first at 26. I have significantly more now. I'm worried more about wrinkles.

It's only hair...and there's always haircolor!
